Common Questions

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Sessions are available online for clients located in Minnesota. Contact me to ask about availability, fit, and fees.

Do you offer EMDR?

Yes. I use EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches to help clients work through old wounds and experiences that continue to affect their present life and relationships.

What is EMDR?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It’s a psychotherapy approach that helps people process distressing experiences—especially trauma—so that the memories become less emotionally and physically activating. In simple terms, EMDR helps the brain reprocess a memory that feels “stuck.” Instead of simply talking about the event, the therapist guides the client to briefly focus on aspects of the memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as following the therapist’s fingers with their eyes or using alternating taps or sounds. A typical EMDR process involves: Identifying a distressing memory, belief, emotion, and body sensation connected to it. Activating the memory briefly. Using bilateral stimulation while allowing thoughts, feelings, images, or sensations to arise naturally. Repeating this until the memory becomes less distressing and feels more like something that happened in the past rather than something happening now. Developing a more adaptive belief about oneself.

Do you work with couples?

Yes. I am certified in Terry Real’s RLT approach to couples therapy which is very effective in helping couples learn to repair and get back on track or even onto a new and better version of their relationship.

Do you work with LGBTQ+ clients?

Yes. I have extensive experience and training working in in the LGBTQ community and provide a safe, and sex positive environment for clients to be able engage in a full expression of themselves without judgement.

What is Relational Life Therapy?

Relational Life Therapy is a direct, relational approach to couples therapy that helps partners understand their patterns, take responsibility for their part, and build more honest and connected ways of relating. In RLT we help “diagnose the problem” by understanding your relational dance, explore how the adaptations to survive in childhood show up in adult relationships even if those adaptations are no longer working, and teach skills to learn to be more effective in your partnership. A mainstay of RLT is helping couples repair to return back to harmony. The mantra is that all relationships are a cycle of harmony, disharmony, and repair. RLT helps couples move through this normal cycle in a way that is effective and sustainable by engaging your “wise adult” self vs acting out of your “adaptive child self.”.

How much does therapy cost?

Hour long sessions are $200 and 90 minute sessions are $300. Longer session can be helpful to have the opportunity to dig deeper in the relationship issues and engage in healing more efficiently than cramming it in into the hour session. But this is up to you and your time availability and budget.
